Is all slang categorised the same or are there different classes and sub classes.

Firstly I’d say there is Aussie English which you’ll find in the Maquarie dictionary.

Secondly there is Aussie Rime adapted from mainly the British Isles,

and thirdly Aussie Slang which can differ from region to region.

Lets take the dress shoe of the tropics the rubber scuff. Maquarie :a type of slipper or sandal without a back.

                                                      Aussie rime:none

Aussie slang ;Jandals in WA Scuffs or thongs in SA + NT Pluggers in QLD not sure about what names used in the southern states.

Crook is to be sick or unwell Aussie English

Butchers hook Aussie rime

Crook as a dog or Captain Cook Aussie slang

Is it no wonder people get confused as they move around this big country !
