Aussie english slang

As a British migrant to Australia I can not agree that most of the slang words in use in Australia are uniquely Australian,most are and have been in use in the UK for many years and were brought over by the first settlers mainly from England and Ireland.

Im sure that’s true, but does it matter for migrants with second language English?  Reckon they just need to understand what ever is being used here!

At last someone said it!I agree with ya. Thou im not a native english speaker i know most of that expressions as a standart english. Maybe it refer to British english.Even thou some expression exist in American english. So the migrants who don’t understand astralian english just shuold learn English better. But i agree there’re alot of Astralian unique words slanf and so on

thats so interesting you brought that up. just the other day i was having a discussion about where some austrailian words originated from. didnt lots of brits come over to australia a long time ago?
