Are you a working migrant or do you employ migrants with English as their second language?

AusEphrase is now focussing on the language we use in Australia for OH&S.  Not the official language of course, but the expressions that are used quickly and perhaps urgently around the office or on the factory floor.

A casual warning that a piece of equipment has ‘had it’ and to ‘chuck it out’ or ‘get rid of it’ could have dire consequences merely because we assume we are understood, unless told otherwise.  - And that’s just the thing isn’t it?  Unless you’ve experienced trying to understand a language that is not your own for a lengthy period of time, then you may not appreciate the agreement, nodding or ‘yes’ that can happen when someone thinks they understand, but is too tired or self-conscious to seek clarification.

If you have any suggestions for some OH&S expressions please let us know!

Examples:
