The Top 50 Social and the Top 50 Workplace expressions, idioms and slang have been changed for 2010!
There has been a slight reshuffling of expressions, with some expressions replacing others completely.
This is because, despite my research and my experience as an ESL lecturer, I still overlooked the most common place of expressions, or thought that they were too easy, too elementary, for the website.
I have since been reminded that newcomers to Australia still need to learn these expressions!
For example “How are you going?” is now number 1 on the list, where it had otherwise been previously excluded completely, due to it being such a common expression! It indeed does not ask which transport you will be taking!
Are there any other basic expressions I’ve missed? Let me know!
Don’t forget there is more than just the Top 50, upgrade to full membership to see many more social and workplace expressions, as well as video examples of using the expressions in context!
